We invite you to read the text, which appeared in the September issue of BUILDER magazine, introducing the benefits of installing woodwork in a professional manner. In order to directly contact a Certified Installer and make an appointment for a quick installation and receive a 20-year airtightness guarantee, please visit the search engine:
Can window installation or replacement be further accelerated, simplified and, at the same time, eliminate the possibility of mistakes? And in addition, in the face of rising prices of natural resources, as well as the trend of caring for the environment, save even more energy in the building? Yes!
Investment in new window frames or proper renovation of the old ones allows you to significantly reduce the cost of using the building. Windows as external partitions, in addition to their functional characteristics, should meet the requirements for thermal protection of buildings, and therefore have high thermal insulation and airflow tightness. Choosing the right products for insulation and sealing is therefore crucial in view of the environmental challenges and legal requirements for energy-efficient construction.
It is important to remember that the insulation and sealing of windows are affected by both external factors, such as rain, wind or solar radiation, centrifugal type of construction movements and daily use, and internal factors, including room temperature and humidity. Effective protection against all these factors is provided by an energy-efficient 3-layer window installation. With this type of solution, we get as many as three layers of insulation: the first, which assures the connection between the window and the wall against the weather, the second responsible for load transfer, acoustics and acting as a thermal barrier, and the third (internal), separating the interior climate from the outside world.
The above assumptions are met by Selena SA's innovative ** WINS** (Window Insulation Standard) systems, which were developed in cooperation with engineers and installers. This is a new standard of insulation, guaranteeing many years of airtightness, under which the installation foam forming a layer of thermal and acoustic insulation is protected by additional insulating layers of liquid films: vapor-proof and vapor-permeable.
There are two systems. The first, WINS Flex, recommended for new construction, is a highly flexible and airtight system that is resistant to extreme weather conditions and does not require special substrate preparation. It protects even the largest windows from deformation, perfectly transmits all building vibrations and maintains tightness even under heavy loads. The second, WINS Fix, designed for historic buildings, seals windows in the walls with a node without disturbing the outer layer of the facade. An airtight, weather-resistant seal that insulates acoustically.
Both systems are certified with a 20-year airtightness guarantee. The novelty of WINS Systems lies in the regulation of water vapor flow in the joint, which prevents condensation and mildew in the reveal. There is no thermal bridge around the window, and the linear heat transfer coefficient here is a maximum of 0.15 W/(m2K). The system inhibits uncontrolled air infiltration, thereby increasing the thermal and acoustic insulation of the joint. Thanks to the comprehensive integration of the products into each other, no specialized tools are needed for installation, and the simplicity of use, allowing 4 x faster work compared to standard systems based on textile tapes, definitely speeds up the works. WINS are systems directly ideal for the installation of large glazing and dark-colored woodwork prone to deformation. This is because the seal is highly flexible and resistant to very strong stresses and extreme weather conditions, including winds of up to 160 km/h.
We spend up to several tens of thousands of zlotys on new windows or replacing existing woodwork. It is worth choosing the installation system properly, because any mistakes and leaks are difficult to repair later, and this involves additional costs. The use of WINS Systems allows not only to reduce the cost of heating and cooling the building, but above all to extend the "life" of the window joinery, providing users with peace and quiet.
Replacement of window and door frames means savings on heating bills in the first winter, which in the current situation is a significant cost to the household budget. If we combine this with the insulation of external walls, the effect can significantly exceed 50% of the expenditure.
Windows and doors, in addition to functional and aesthetic features, should meet the basic requirements for thermal protection of buildings, and therefore have high thermal insulation and air-tightness. The selection, arrangement and proper installation of joinery is one of the most important elements of the process of designing and erecting energy-efficient buildings.
